Folsom, CA (November 2, 2007) – AgreeYa Solutions today announced their recent selection by NASSCOM, the premier trade body of the IT software and services industry in India, as one of the ‘Top 15 Exciting Emerging Companies to Work for’ in the IT-BPO sector in India. The list resulted from a survey, the first of its kind, conducted by NASSCOM looking at HR practices to benchmark the top 15 companies comprised of small- and medium-sized enterprises with a turnover of less than Rs 250 crore ($62.5M).

The Exciting Emerging Companies (EEC) survey was conducted in four parts:

Online Employee Perception Survey- An online survey was designed to capture the employees’ perception of the Work Environment (WE), Career Development (CD), Job Satisfaction (JS), Reward & Recognition (R&R) and Fairness & Equity (F&E) as observed and practiced in their organization. It reflected an employee’s perception on the above parameters on the Climate, Attitude and Satisfaction scale. An Employee Satisfaction Score was generated for each participating firm.

HR Diagnostic Study- A score for each participating company was generated, following an in-depth exercise of meeting their HR personnel, understanding their HR systems and processes, validating their content, studying documentation, comprehending their vision and listening to their employees.

Industry Panel run-through- The survey panel comprised of NASSCOM’s invitees and industry experts to ensure that no ambiguities were prevalent and that there was no experience or expertise bias.

Analysis- The collated data was then calculated and analyzed to arrive at the final list.

Analysis of the top 15 companies revealed certain distinguishing factors which made them an exciting emerging company, and several benchmarks for HR practices were identified.

The Exciting Emerging Companies’ (EEC) survey also revealed that smaller companies are adopting practices like balanced scorecards for performance appraisal to designing of performance grade cards to enhance productivity. The survey further notes that such practices make the company more attractive to employees.

Kiran Karnik, President of NASSCOM, said, “The Indian IT industry has set an exceptionally high standard with regard to workplace and employee practices.”

He added, “While there are benchmarks that exist across industries, we felt that for the emerging companies segment, it is critical to identify and appreciate the frontrunners, who are employers of choice, and aptly showcase them.”

The NASSCOM survey noted that while training was provided by all organizations, a sophisticated approach to the process was missing. Further, identifying that integration between career planning, training, and development and performance appraisal is an important need for the companies, the study says that the top 15 companies in the list all formed a career planning and development mechanism.

Constant and effective communication were also identified as key factors for the successful working of an organization. Meanwhile, the presence of documentation, the blueprint of any process, was also identified as a key differentiator along with climate surveys, benchmarking, and recreational activities.
