The organization was developing an Internet of Things (IoT) smoke and CO detector which would leverage Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to communicate with iOS devices. The home security major wanted to implement a test automation solution to ensure that the onboarding flow worked seamlessly across all iOS versions and devices. However, there were major challenges in implementing test automation as physical button press was essential for pairing the IoT device and the device had to be unpaired from the app before repeating the test.
