The Customer

The Customer is the largest passenger car company in India. It accounts for over 50% of the domestic car market.

Established in early 1980s, the Customer has a sales network of 600 outlets in 393 towns and cities, and provides maintenance support to customers at 2,628 workshops in over 1200 towns and cities.

The Challenge

The Customer engaged AgreeYa to revamp its existing Employee Intranet Portal “OASIS”, to cater to growing organizational needs for better collaborative environments and information sharing. The portal needed to provide improved collaborative environments, content management, communication media, knowledge management, and information security. The new portal would provide access and information to 3,200+ employees and feature rich functionalities. The challenges were:

  • Provide a dynamic portal which is scalable to meet the requirements of providing updated content to employees
  • Short development timeframe for customization due to immediate business requirements of the system
  • Adhere to the quality standards specific to various functional departments.

The Solution

AgreeYa proposed a solution based on Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007. This is an ongoing project and both on-site and off-site teams are involved in configuring and customizing the portal product to deliver rich user experience and content. This includes customizing web parts, forms, development of reports, and enriching the branded look and feel of the portal.

The entire project is to be completed in two phases. Phase 1 involves enterprise-level migration and restructuring of the current intranet portal from SharePoint 2000 to MOSS 2007. Phase 2 involves ad-hoc enhancements as per additional divisional requirements company-wide.
